Proseal has launched a new high-efficiency, water-protected tool heating system, which the company says can meet the demands for lower seal times while at the same time delivering a 25% reduction in electricity consumption.
The Proseal Hot Rod system has been developed to meet the need for maximum production throughput without compromising seal quality. In addition, the popularity of smooth wall foils for many tray designs can result in inefficient sealing as the aluminium draws heat away from the sealing areas.
The major innovation of the Hot Rod is that the heat is able to remain focused on the tray rim so that sealing can take place very quickly and efficiently. This produces reduced seal times thus giving faster tray throughput. In addition, as a result of the accurate control of the heating area, the wattage size of the Hot Rod is half that of conventional heat systems.
Another major advantage of the system is that the main body is resistant to water. This facilitates cleaning and minimises downtime due to accidental water damage. Proseal also claims that the robust construction of the Hot Rod tooling system means that the life of the tool will be at least double that of existing heat delivery sources.
As well as being specified for new tooling, the Proseal Hot Rod system can also be retrofitted into existing tool sets.
“The Proseal NPD programme is focused on continual improvement and meeting the needs of our customers,” comments Proseal director Steve Malone. “We believe Hot Rod is a major advance in heat delivery, which answers food manufacturers’ demands for maximum efficiency and production throughput.”
